The Art of Silence
We founded Symphony on a single observation: the rooms that look the most beautiful are often the ones that sound the worst.
Open-plan kitchens. Polished concrete. Floor-to-ceiling glass. These are the choices of people who take their environment seriously — and the very choices that fill a home with echo, with reverberation, with the relentless noise of a life being lived loudly.
We didn't want to solve that problem with industrial foam panels or corporate acoustic boards. We wanted to solve it with art.
Symphony is modular acoustic wall art, printed on 9mm high-density PET felt and built around a 25×25 cm grid system that lets you compose your own wall — a tile at a time, a room at a time, a life at a time.
Why felt?
Felt is not a new material. It is one of the oldest textiles known to human civilisation — used for warmth, for insulation, for the simple reason that compressed fibres hold air, and air holds silence.
Our felt is made from 100% recycled PET — reclaimed polyester fibres, compressed under heat and pressure into a rigid, stable 9mm panel. It is soft to the eye, firm to the touch, and acoustically active throughout its depth.
We chose 9mm because it provides meaningful absorption at the frequencies that matter most in domestic spaces — speech, music, the hard consonants of a conversation over dinner — while remaining light enough to ship in a compact box and elegant enough to hang without a frame.
The modular principle
Every great composition begins with a single note.
Symphony tiles mount individually using our magnetic system — no drilling, no damage, no specialist tools. You begin with one tile, or with twelve. You hang them precisely using The Composer, our contour-cut felt alignment guide included in every order. You scan the QR code. You press play on The Sound of Silence. You build.
The grid is yours. The silence is yours.
Made in the Netherlands
Every Symphony is printed on demand in the Netherlands. We use UV-resistant inks applied directly into the felt fibre — not onto it. Every order is hand-inspected before it leaves.
We do not stock inventory. We do not overproduce. Each piece is made for the specific wall it will hang on. This takes 4–6 working days, and we believe it is worth every one of them.
The name
A symphony is not the loudest moment in a concert hall. It is the sum of everything — the instruments, the silences between them, the architecture of the room, the attention of the listener. We named our company for the moment when all of those elements are in balance, and the room itself seems to breathe.
That is what we are building, tile by tile, in homes across the Netherlands and beyond.
